Could you come or not come to our hometown? |
|
installation with artist book and video at solo show in TUAD. 2006 |

|
Artist book Could you come or not come to our hometown? is exhibited combined with serious of videos, which shows the encounter
of the boys who gave the title of the work. Everything was set on the floor
directly, so the audience must bend their knees to read the artwork, suggesting
the change of view to the lowest.
With my works which employing cross-disciplinary fields of research, I
was expected to bridge the gap between fine arts and folklore study. Since
the host of my solo show was held by TUAD, Tohoku University of Arts &
Design, which embraces Tohoku (north east) cultural research centre. Open
talks with famous folklorists were arranged during the show.
In Could you come or not come to our hometown? that was exhibited with other works of mine in TUAD, I tried to talk about
identity shaken by meeting with the others in a field work, possibility
of alternating currents of communication, and being flexible to grasp in
new and uncomfortable paradigm of others.
